Opening a Small Business ain’t that easy but, Colonoscopy’s aren’t either!

Looking to open up a business? Let the fun begin… Just because you found the perfect place does NOT mean it’s perfect. We looked at many places and although some were really great, something was really wrong. The price per square foot, what was included, Internet access, parking and so on. So, you finally find the perfect place. The price is right, the square footage is PERFECT! You sign the lease, you get a great building Contractor and then you have the Contractor go for the building permit. SCREECH! SLAM the BRAKES! You have to have WHAT? And WHAT? Really? OH! And now you need an Architect to approve the plan you forgot to put into play? W T F??? Yes, you HAVE to put in a Utility Basin for the floor cleaning people to rinse their Mops. One that is not the Bathroom Sink. Guess where the Utility Basin is going – connected to the plumbing for the Bathroom Sink, the only plumbing there. OH, and you have to have a water fountain for your employees? REALLY? A good employer would have water anyway – in the Fridge they are installing all cold and waiting to drink.

I am NOT putting down anyone or anything here! What I am doing is making people aware that there are certain things that absolutely have to be done before you start a buildout on a Retail store if you have no experience.

Why doesn’t the City have any kind of check off list for small business? It wouldn’t take long to do either.

BTW, did you know you had to have an “Exit” sign on the only exit/entrance?
